Thursday July 30

Laughlin, Nevada to Barstow, California - 176 miles

We left Laughlin at 8:15 am after fill'er up.  It was warm morning and clear.  We, the 15 bikers, went on SR 95 to connect US 66 route near Needles.

Thankfully, there were Route 66 Shields painted on the pavement. This helped us know that we are on the right track.

From here to Amboy, hundreds of travelers have written their names on rocks and miscellany along the north side of road.

Before Amboy we stopped for photographing with Route 66 shield on the road which had no problem for us because there isn’t any vehicle on the road of the vast desert.

Passed the cone of Amboy Crater, whose black lava flow crosses Route 66?  We stopped for a lunch at Ludlow Cafe/Coffee Shop.

Bobby stopped for a Miller beer at Bagdad Cafe of movie fame that draws worldwide clients for eats and stories.  The rest of the bikers were impatient and did not stop and were rushed to Barstow.  It was pretty hot.  That understood.  We all arrived at Barstow at 2:10 pm and dove into a pool.  More bikers joined us from San Diego.

At 6 pm we dined at the Idle Spurs Steak House.  Beefy price but delicious food!  The place looked the rustic western styled atmosphere.  It was on the old Highway 58 outside the Barstow city limit.

Two days left to go for the end of US 66 route!
