Tuesday July 28
Flagstaff, Arizona to
Laughlin, Nevada - 191 miles
We left Flagstaff at 7:15
am. It was cold morning, but we as the bikers liked it winding
through the alpine terrain until Williams. The temp started to
raise fast.
We were startled by
Seligman's rich collections of US 66 history through its small town, but
it offered many things to buy or take pictures of many good ol' days. It
was fun to browse in that town.
We were stunned to find so
many bikers stopping by the old Hackberry store. They were coming from
Spain for their vacation riding on the bike across the America. About 20
bikers with a Ryder rental truck as a support unit! There was a
passel of cool old stuff to see outside, including rusty old sedans,
vintage gas pumps and signs, and a bright red '56 Corvette.
Upon arrival at Kingman, it
was a good location to top off our gas tank or we would be struck in the
middle of vast desert under the blazing sun of over 115 degree. We
stopped for our lunch at Mr. D'z Route 66 Diner. It offered
unbelievable rich collections of '50 relics.
We were ready for scavenger
hunt in the desert with plenty of water in store for us. We almost
could not manage the extreme heat until we reached Cool Springs' old gas
station. We went inside until we were recovered from being
dehydrated.
A series of tight hairpins
took us down to a turnout where there were many graves with cross.
Found long lost ashes of Jimmy Hoffa. We didn't know whether it
was for real or not.
Finally we arrived at
Oatman with plenty of burros being on loose on the main street. It was
fun to see how they begged for some carrots. Believe that they are well
fed anyway!
Worse part was extreme
heat; we could barely hold the steering bar straight to Laughlin as our
destination for two nights.
By the nightfall we had
gathered at the casino to enjoy the as usual performance presented by
Stefurak and Bergan.
That's about it all for
now. Thank you for being our faithful readers. Bobby Skedsmo |

On the way to Oatman. AZ, we are riding on the most
dangerous winding road without the guard rails
and baking ourselves under the sun in the 115 degrees.

Deaf Texas bikers, Eric Haaland and Jo Williams were
shocked seeing an unleashed burros on the road in Oatman, AZ.
