Sunday July 26
Santa Fe, NM to Gallup, NM
- 199 miles
We left Santa Fe at 8:45 am
after fill'er up. We took the US 66 route all the way to
Albuquerque. We had a ride break at the Old Town for a half hour.
It was cool morning.
It is no longer possible to
ride the historic route uninterrupted. We had to configure our own
bypasses. We accessed some non-maintained roadways so this may
mean that it must be at our own risk.
We could see the cloudburst
ahead us so we'd better get our rain gear on otherwise we would be
completely soaked wet. We survived the rain for thirty minutes.
It was fun and cool.
We winded through a
picture-post card landscape. The Land of Enhancement!
All of different groups of
bikers went on their own way to where they chose to go but we ended up
meeting at the crossroad at the Continental Divide at the same time.
How? Was it Deaf time? Wow! All 15 bikers plus
passengers did and we exchanged tales. It was unfortunate that
Howie Virnig went on ahead alone to Gallup; however he did enjoy himself
in his own world. We arrived at Gallup at 4:30 pm. It was 84 degree. We dined at a cozy restaurant at downtown. Bobby Skedsmo |

A group of seven bikers (5 Californians and 2 Marylanders)
are riding on the historic Route 66 road in New Mexico.
Besides, there are other deaf bikers riding on the different route at the
different time.

Amazingly, all of us coming from different routes and
meeting at the Continental Divide at the same time.
What a good plan!?! The secret tip.....we all have an internal radar.

We are standing on the continental divide but we are still
UNITED!
