Saturday July 25
Amarillo, Texas to Santa
Fe, New Mexico - 290 miles
Left Amarillo at 7 am and a
quick stop at McDonalds.
Saw 10 partially buried
Cadillac cars with their tail fins angling skyward.
Rode on US 66 less than
ever because it did not run through the whole way; however, it could be
seen from the I-40.
The highlight of today ride
was to realize that we were at the midpoint of US 66 Route. 1139
miles left to Los Angeles and 1139 miles since we left Chicago. It
is located in Adrian, Texas.
We took a look at the Blue
Swallow Motel in Tucumcari. We arrived at Santa Fe, New Mexico at 3 pm. We visited the New Mexico School for the Deaf, but the students were on summer recess so was the supt. We met a deaf staff. She led us to the Mine Shaft Tavern about 27 miles south (mining town) where we had an entertainment. Local deaf people were there to greet us. Bobby Skedsmo |

Before we left Amarillo, TX, we stopped by the well-known pinned down Cadillac cars in
the ground.

This is called a Midpoint where is the exact half way from Chicago to Los
Angeles.
Amazingly, we survived one week and will do another week of journey to arrive
Los Angeles.
